Shana Young is a proven leader with more than twenty years of experience in education policy and practice. She is currently the founder and principal of Corner Hill Consulting, working with states, districts, corporations, and non-profits on policy development, strategy, and implementation, as well as program design, facilitation, and leadership coaching. In addition to consulting, Shana is a Leader in Residence and Lecturer for the Broad Masters program at the Yale School of Management, where she teaches Education Policy for System Leaders.
Shana has ten years of service leading in state education agencies, including as interim State Superintendent at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in Washington, DC during the COVID 2020-2021 school year, and also served as Chief of Staff at OSSE and at the Delaware Department of Education.
In these roles she led numerous large-scale policy initiatives to improve systems and schools across many areas, including: accountability, standards, and assessments; supports for students with disabilities; early childhood education; educator talent; data systems and reporting; school finance, and more. Prior to her work in states, she held various leadership roles in education non-profits and higher education.
Shana holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and an executive masters in policy leadership from Georgetown University.
